
Why we build our mirror heaters in pieces
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are brutal on electronics. Between the steam, the humidity, and the constant temperature swings, it’s a recipe for gear to fail. Most companies just build a mirror heater as one big, sealed block. It works great—until it doesn’t. The moment one little tube burns out five years from now, you’re stuck. You can’t just “fix” it; you have to rip the entire mirror assembly out of your wall. That’s a nightmare nobody wants. We do things differently. Instead of one solid unit, we use a modular setup. We basically separated the heating elements from the frame. Here’s why that matters: when a tube finally hits its limit, you don’t throw away the mirror. You just swap out the module. It turns what would have been a weekend renovation project into a quick 10-minute fix. How it actually works We kept the guts simple. We use quick-connect terminals and standard sizes, so you aren’t messing around with a soldering iron in your bathroom. You just unplug the dead module, slide it out, and pop in a new one. Simple. Of course, making something “swappable” is a bit harder to engineer. If the brackets are loose, the heat leaks, and you lose that cozy infrared warmth. To stop that, we spent a lot of time tightening the tolerances. The fit is snug, ensuring the heat goes exactly where it should—into the glass. The reality of maintenance Look, nothing lasts forever. Even the fancy quartz or coated tubes eventually wear out after thousands of uses. By focusing on making the system easy to service, we’re looking at the long game. Sure, the unit has a slightly larger footprint up front, but you save a massive headache (and a lot of money) down the road. Now, some people argue that having connectors instead of one solid solder joint creates more places for things to go wrong. We thought about that. That’s why we used high-temp housings that won’t warp or melt, even if they’re running all day. You get a system that’s easy to wire up, and even easier to keep running.
