Making Your Table Heaters Actually Smart
Most heaters are a pain because you have to wait forever for the air in the room to warm up. We decided to skip the air entirely. Our waterproof table heaters use short-wave infrared, which means the heat goes straight to you and your workspace. It’s an immediate jump in temperature. No waiting.
Why it feels instant
Inside the unit, there’s a quartz heating element. When you hit a button on your smart home hub, a pulse of current hits that filament, and because infrared moves at the speed of light, you feel it the millisecond it turns on. And since we made the housing waterproof, you don’t have to stress about a spilled coffee or a damp kitchen counter tripping your breakers. It just works.
Getting it connected
If you want to hook these up to your smart home, you’ll just need a reliable relay or a TRIAC-based dimmer if you want to tweak the temperature. They play nice with Zigbee or Matter controllers. Imagine waking up and having your workspace already warm and cozy before you even step into the room. The secret is that there’s no “thermal lag.” You know those old oil radiators that take twenty minutes to get going? This is the opposite. High wattage, zero waiting.
A few things to keep in mind
Here is the catch: infrared is very focused. You get intense heat exactly where the lamp is pointing, but if you move a few inches to the side, it’s cold again. You’ll want to be smart about where you place them so you don’t end up with one “hot spot” on your desk. Also, a quick heads-up on your electricity. These heaters pull a decent amount of power when they first kick in. If you’re plugging in a bunch of them on one circuit, just double-check your breaker so you don’t accidentally kill the power to the whole room.
